The Macon Rescue Mission was founded in 1956. The Mission has 35 Board Members who are attorneys, doctors, professional business men and women, business owners, educators, law enforcement officials, judges, and lay people. The Mission has helped hundreds of thousands of destitute homeless individuals. In 1981 The Macon Rescue Mission opened up one of the first shelters in the state of Georgia for battered women, abused children, and homeless men. In 2008 The Mission helped over 800 battered women and children with housing, counseling, guidance, and the necessary support they need to begin a new life.
