Tournament History

The Celebrity Classic began in 1989, by Jaime Kaplan, former professional tennis player, and in twenty-two years has netted over $2,170,000.  Jaime competed in a number of charity events while on the WTA Tour and always wanted to return home after retirement and start a charity event of her own.  In 1989, Jaime started the Charter Celebrity Tennis Classic that has evolved into what is today known as the Five Star Mazda Kevin Brown Celebrity Classic.


The Macon Rescue Mission

The Macon Rescue Mission was founded in 1952.  The Mission has 30 Board Members who are attorneys, doctors, professional business men and women, business owners, educators, law enforcement officials, judges and lay people.  The Mission has helped thousands of destitute homeless men.  In 1981, the Macon Rescue Mission opened up the first residential program in the State of Georgia for female and adolescent survivors of domestic violence.  In 2010, the Mission helped over 1,200 men, women and children with housing, counseling, guidance, and the necessary support they needed to begin a new life.  The Mission also has distributed over 4,800 food boxes to Macon’s Elderly & Disabled and provided school supplies for schools.
